OZart

It would make me very happy if you'd comment on the pieces you like. Also, I'd love to see photos of them in their new homes.

#3 - Starry's starry night

So Starry told me she liked Vincent Van Gogh and there was only one thing to do, really, wasn't there, and that was a Southern Cross version of Starry Night. I am nowhere near the genius of his strokes, what control! But I got to play with something like his palette, and those bits that look lumpy? They are. They're why Starry's postcard took something like two weeks to dry.
Oh, this dark patch on the left in the middle. That's the Coalsack. (I believe that's near Murcheson's Eye - or not - Niven might have been lying about the moties.)
And that smiley smear? That's me testing for the umpteenth time," is it dry yet?" It wasn't.
Oil on oil sketch.

#8 - Melicious's Tryptich

For a sweet little petunia!
This is toner and water colour on paper. I really wanted to explore the sophisticated black and white patterning that's big right now, and couldn't decide which of these I preferred. Petunias seem like a homey type of flower, and I figured that that's what a nomad needs most. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the kind of colour that these petunias deserve.

#7 - Sooz's Phallic Kitchen

On Sooz's fridge with other Oz stuff.

It's actually the top of my oven, a vase and two passionfruit. Oh, pastel on cream pastel paper.

I grew the passionfruit. I drew the passionfruit. I ate the passionfruit.

There will be no more pastels. They're too dirty. And no, my fingers aren't quite that stubby. Really.

#5 - Anja's tree

This is a flower off Anja's favourite tree. Watercolour on watercolour paper.

Oh and this is the Anja's favourite photo of Anja's favourite tree - it's an Erythina Something.

16 December - Anja has had her flower framed. Here it is in it's new home.

#4 - Carol's Chair

This is done in pencil on card (I think? or paper I can't remember) . This is our ordinary dining chair in the doorway of my bedroom. I want it back so I can fix the hard line on the shadow of the seat of the chair. It actually looks better smaller - don't click on it!

#6 - Kely and the Lily

So Kely asked for something blue and inspirational and I ignored her request altogether because I had this idea I wanted to try. This is coloured paper on card with water colour pencils.

If the subject seems familiar there was a photo I took in 2005.

#2 - Jac's not settling for less

And she likes natural tones. And as I told Jac, this is my finger but this is not my settle. Oh water colour on linen card for this one.

#1 - Katoo's Gecko

So here's the draft.

And here's the final. This is what I wanted to say about this. He's a gecko to match your foot, Kate, and not only do his toes curl when he plays but so does his furniture's as well. Oh and also, it's because you and Hillary liked the funky piano assignment too. This is watercolour pencil and ink.

Damn blogger is refusing images right now. If that changes, I'll fix it. Elsewise I'll move the blog.
